Indian Armed Forces to Procure BrahMos Missiles Post Operation Sindoor

Indian Forces Plan Major BrahMos Missile Acquisition

Following the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, the Indian Air Force and Navy are set to place substantial orders for BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles. This decision comes after these missiles played a pivotal role in damaging Pakistani military infrastructure during the operation. The Indo-Russian joint venture BrahMos has proven its effectiveness, prompting Indian defense forces to expand their arsenal with this advanced weaponry.

High-Level Defense Meeting to Approve Procurement

Top defense sources have revealed that an imminent high-level meeting within the defense ministry is expected to approve the procurement of a significant number of BrahMos missiles. These will be allocated for use by the Indian Navy’s Veer-class warships and the Indian Air Force’s Russian-origin Su-30 MKI fighter jets. The approval will further strengthen India’s defense capabilities, ensuring readiness for future conflicts.

BrahMos Missiles’ Impact During Operation Sindoor

During the four-day conflict, BrahMos missiles were extensively used to target Pakistani air bases and Army cantonments. Their precision and effectiveness were instrumental in achieving strategic objectives, showcasing India’s military prowess. The operation highlighted the importance of indigenous weapon systems in modern warfare.

Prime Minister Modi Commends Indigenous Weapon Systems

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the performance of indigenous weapon systems during Operation Sindoor. He emphasized the strength of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India), particularly praising the BrahMos missiles for their role in demonstrating India’s defense capabilities on a global stage.

Strategic Use Against Terrorist Infrastructure

In the initial phase of the conflict, India targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, including key locations of Jaish e Mohammed and Lashkar e Toiba. The BrahMos missile was chosen for its precision, effectively neutralizing targets and causing significant damage to Pakistani air bases. This strategic use underscored the missile’s critical role in India’s defense strategy.
