A Hyderabad-bound IndiGo flight experienced a technical issue on Sunday, prompting it to circle in the air for approximately 40 minutes before safely returning to Tirupati Airport. The incident involved an Airbus A321neo, which had taken off from Tirupati at 7:42 pm. According to Flightradar24, the aircraft, identified as flight 6E 6591, reached Venkatagiri town in Tirupati before executing a U-turn and circling back to its origin.
The flight was scheduled to depart from Tirupati at 7:20 pm and arrive in Hyderabad by 8:30 pm. However, due to the unforeseen technical glitch, the plane returned to Tirupati at around 8:34 pm. This flight was reportedly the last scheduled service to Hyderabad for the day and was subsequently cancelled. Passengers expressed their frustration, with videos circulating on social media showing heated discussions between travelers and airline staff regarding rescheduling options.
As of now, IndiGo has not issued an official statement regarding the incident. The lack of communication has left passengers seeking clarity on future travel arrangements. The situation highlights the importance of timely updates from airlines during such occurrences to manage passenger expectations and ensure safety protocols are transparently communicated.
This incident underscores the critical nature of aircraft maintenance and the potential impact of technical issues on flight schedules. It also raises questions about how airlines manage unexpected disruptions and communicate with affected passengers. As air travel resumes post-pandemic, ensuring operational reliability remains a top priority for airlines worldwide.
