Israeli Airstrikes Target Syrian State TV, Anchor Flees Mid-Broadcast

Israeli Airstrikes Hit Damascus

In a dramatic escalation of regional tensions, Israeli airstrikes targeted a state TV building in central Damascus, Syria. During a live broadcast, a TV anchor was seen fleeing the set as the building came under attack. This incident marks the third consecutive day of Israeli military action in Syria, highlighting the ongoing conflict between Israel and Syrian forces.

Defense Minister’s Statement on Social Media

Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, took to social media to issue a stern warning. He declared that “the warnings in Damascus have ended – now painful blows will come,” emphasizing Israel’s resolve to continue its military operations in Suweida. Katz assured the Druze community in Israel that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) would protect their counterparts in Syria.

Ongoing Clashes in Suweida

The southern Syrian region of Suweida has become a flashpoint for conflict, with clashes erupting between the minority Druze community and other armed factions. The situation has drawn Israeli intervention, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s commitment to maintaining a demilitarized zone on its border and safeguarding the Druze population.

Targeting Syrian Military Infrastructure

Earlier in the day, an airstrike targeted Syria’s Ministry of Defence building in Damascus. The Israeli military confirmed striking the entrance of the Syrian regime’s military headquarters, underscoring its strategic focus on crippling Syrian military capabilities.

Ceasefire Collapse and Continued Strikes

The airstrikes coincide with the collapse of a ceasefire between government forces and Druze armed groups in Sweida. Defense Minister Katz warned that Israel would intensify its attacks if Syrian regime forces did not withdraw from the area. This development underscores the fragile nature of peace efforts in the region.

Commitment to Regional Stability

Prime Minister Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s obligation to preserve stability in southwestern Syria and protect local communities. As tensions continue to rise, the international community watches closely, concerned about potential broader implications for regional security.
