Jennifer Aniston recently opened up about the challenging period following her high-profile divorce from Brad Pitt, describing it as a “vulnerable time” in her life. In a candid interview for Vanity Fair’s September cover story, Aniston revisited her first interview with the magazine in 2005, where she discussed the end of her marriage. She recalled the experience as “jarring” and noted that it was a significant moment for her personal memoirs. Aniston, now 56, shared the self-advice she relied on during that period: “Just pick yourself up by the bootstraps and keep on walking, girl.”
Aniston and Pitt were introduced in 1994 by their managers, but their relationship didn’t turn romantic until a few years later. The couple went public with their engagement at a Sting concert in November 1999 and tied the knot in a beachside ceremony in Malibu in 2000. By 2004, Aniston expressed her desire to start a family with Pitt, telling The Guardian that she was ready to slow down and embrace motherhood.
Despite their plans, Aniston and Pitt separated in 2004, finalizing their divorce in 2005. The media frenzy surrounding their split was intense, with Pitt quickly moving on to a relationship with his “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” co-star Angelina Jolie. Aniston described this period as being part of a “love triangle” that provided “juicy reading” for the public. She admitted to Vanity Fair that she took the tabloid attention personally and found it difficult to cope with the constant speculation.
Reflecting on the scrutiny she faced, Aniston emphasized that celebrities are human beings who can be affected by public perception. She noted that while some people believe celebrities sign up for such attention, it can still be overwhelming. Despite the past drama, Aniston maintains a friendship with Gwyneth Paltrow, Pitt’s former fiancée, and they often discuss various topics beyond their shared history with Pitt.
