KN Rajanna, a former minister in Karnataka and a close associate of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has been removed from his position following controversial remarks about voter list manipulation. Rajanna claims he is the victim of a “big conspiracy” and intends to travel to Delhi to meet senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and KC Venugopal, to address what he describes as a misunderstanding.
The controversy began when Rajanna commented that the Congress was in power when alleged voter list tampering occurred. He criticized party leaders for not addressing the issue at the time, inadvertently providing ammunition for the BJP to attack the Congress. His remarks have intensified an ongoing political dispute over allegations that the Election Commission colluded with the BJP to introduce fake voters.
Rajanna’s comments led to a heated debate within the assembly and ultimately resulted in his removal from the ministry. Despite his ouster, Rajanna maintains that there is a larger conspiracy at play. He has refrained from providing further details but has promised to disclose more information at an appropriate time.
Sources indicate that Rahul Gandhi played a significant role in Rajanna’s removal, as he leads the Congress’s charge against alleged electoral misconduct. Although Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was reportedly reluctant to dismiss Rajanna, he acquiesced following discussions with senior Congress leader KC Venugopal.
Rajanna’s future within the party remains uncertain, as the Congress high command closely monitors the situation. Any further controversial statements could result in severe consequences for him. Meanwhile, Rajanna and his supporters are contemplating their next steps and plan to engage in further discussions with Siddaramaiah.
