This dramatic incident unfolded in the Paruthipalli Range, where the snake was discovered in a stream frequently used by locals for bathing.
Demonstrating remarkable composure, Officer Roshni carefully maneuvered the snake-catching stick to safely lift the venomous reptile. She then ensured its release into a suitable habitat deep within the forest, showcasing her dedication to wildlife conservation. The entire rescue operation was captured on camera, emphasizing her calm and efficient approach to handling such a dangerous situation.
Retired Forest Officer Susanta Nanda praised her efforts on social media, writing, “My salutations to the green queens & the bravery shown by them in the wild. Beat FO G S Roshni, part of the Rapid Response Team of Kerala FD, rescuing a 16-foot king cobra. This was the first time she was tackling a king cobra, though she is credited to have rescued more than 800 snakes.”
The video quickly went viral, with viewers lauding Officer Roshni’s courage and professionalism. According to PTI, Officer G S Roshni has rescued over 800 snakes throughout her nearly eight-year career with the Kerala Forest Department. This encounter marked her first experience with a king cobra, which she successfully captured within minutes. As part of a five-member Rapid Response Team, she responded swiftly to a distress call from locals who had spotted the snake near a popular bathing area.
