In January 2025, Kuwait has revitalized its e-Visa portal, introducing a streamlined application process specifically designed for residents of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). This move is part of Kuwait’s broader strategy to enhance regional tourism and modernize its immigration framework, aligning with the country’s Vision 2035 initiative.
The updated e-Visa system is accessible to expatriates residing in GCC countries who meet specific criteria. Applicants must have a residency period of at least six months and belong to certain professional categories, including doctors and engineers. This targeted approach aims to attract skilled professionals and facilitate easier travel arrangements for them.
The e-Visa application incurs a fee of $10, making it an affordable option for eligible travelers. The processing time is efficient, taking between one to three days. This quick turnaround is expected to encourage more visitors by reducing the waiting period typically associated with visa applications.
Once approved, the e-Visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. It permits a stay of up to 30 days within Kuwait, providing ample time for business or leisure activities. This flexibility is designed to accommodate various travel purposes, from short business trips to extended vacations.
Kuwait’s decision to revamp its e-Visa system is a strategic move to boost tourism and streamline immigration processes. By simplifying entry requirements for GCC residents, Kuwait aims to position itself as a more accessible destination within the region. This initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth by attracting more visitors and fostering stronger regional ties.
