A Mumbai court has cancelled the bailable warrant against actor Malaika Arora, who was a prosecution witness in the 2012 hotel brawl case involving Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan. The decision came after Arora appeared before the court, which had previously issued the warrant due to her absence. However, she was subsequently dropped as a witness when the prosecution noted that she was not supporting their case. The incident dates back to February 22, 2012, when Saif Ali Khan allegedly assaulted NRI businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. The altercation reportedly occurred after Sharma objected to the loud behavior of Khan and his friends during dinner. According to police reports, Khan allegedly threatened Sharma and punched him, resulting in a fractured nose. Sharma also accused Khan and his companions of assaulting his father-in-law, Raman Patel. Khan, who was accompanied by his wife Kareena Kapoor, her sister Karishma Kapoor, Malaika Arora, her sister Amrita Arora, and other friends during the incident, has denied the allegations. He claims that Sharma provoked the situation by making offensive remarks towards the women in their group. Following the complaint by Sharma, Khan and two others were arrested but later released on bail. The case has seen multiple hearings over the years, with various witnesses being called to testify. The court’s decision to cancel Malaika Arora’s warrant marks another development in this long-standing legal battle. The next hearing is scheduled for August 22, where further proceedings will continue to determine the outcome of this high-profile case involving one of Bollywood’s prominent figures.
