West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has introduced a groundbreaking initiative titled ‘Amar Para, Amar Samadhan’ (Our Locality, Our Solution), aimed at addressing public grievances at the grassroots level. This program is designed to tackle everyday issues such as broken taps affecting water supply or damaged roads, ensuring that local problems are resolved efficiently.
The state government has committed to allocating Rs 10 lakh per block for this initiative, with an overall project budget of Rs 8,000 crore. The program is set to commence on August 2, with camps established every three blocks to facilitate the resolution of local issues. This financial investment underscores the government’s dedication to improving infrastructure and services at the community level.
Despite challenges posed by the Central government’s alleged negligence and withholding of funds from Bengal, Chief Minister Banerjee emphasized her commitment to maintaining public satisfaction. She highlighted the importance of small-scale solutions in bringing about significant improvements in people’s lives, reinforcing her administration’s proactive approach.
A task force led by the Chief Secretary will oversee the implementation of ‘Amar Para, Amar Samadhan’. This initiative will not interfere with the ongoing ‘Duare Sarkar’ (Governance at Your Doorstep) program, which is scheduled to resume in December. The new program encourages active participation from local communities, allowing them to identify and prioritize their needs while the government acts as a facilitator.
Sources within the Trinamool Congress have indicated that this initiative is a strategic move ahead of upcoming state elections. By empowering locals to voice their concerns and participate in decision-making processes, the government aims to strengthen its connection with constituents and enhance public trust.
