A disturbing incident unfolded in Bihar’s Supaul district, where a 24-year-old man named Mithlesh Kumar Mukhiya was brutally assaulted and coerced into marrying his aunt. The event took place on July 2 in Jeevchhapur, under the jurisdiction of Bhimpur police station. Mithlesh was reportedly kidnapped and taken to his uncle Shivchandra Mukhiya’s residence, where the assault occurred.
According to Mithlesh’s father, Ramchandra, the attack was instigated by allegations of an affair between Mithlesh and Shivchandra’s wife, Rita Devi. The couple has a four-year-old son. A video that has since gone viral shows Mithlesh being beaten with rods. Rita Devi was also brought to the scene and subjected to violence by the villagers. Under duress, Mithlesh was forced to apply vermillion on Rita’s forehead, symbolizing marriage.
Ramchandra reported that he and his wife were also attacked when they attempted to intervene. Mithlesh sustained severe injuries to his back, neck, and hands as a result of the assault. The situation escalated until a villager notified the police, prompting the assailants to flee upon their arrival.
The attackers were identified as Raja Kumar, Vikas Mukhiya, Shivchandra Mukhiya, Suraj Mukhiya, Pradeep Thakur, Suresh Mukhiya from Jeevchhapur, along with Rahul Kumar and Sajan Sahni from Belaganj. Bhimpur Station House Officer Mithlesh Pandey confirmed that a case has been registered and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects.
