A 50-year-old man named Basavaraj, from Nanjangud, experienced a life-threatening encounter at the Bandipur Tiger Reserve. The incident unfolded when Basavaraj decided to step out of his vehicle near Kekkanahalla to capture a photograph of an elephant. Unbeknownst to him, the tusker was guarding its calf, which led to a defensive and aggressive reaction from the animal.
The tusker, perceiving Basavaraj as a threat, charged at him with alarming speed. The entire episode was recorded on video, showcasing the elephant’s swift movement as it knocked Basavaraj to the ground. The tusker then proceeded to trample him, demonstrating the potential dangers of approaching wild animals too closely.
