Mandy Moore recently expressed her frustration on social media after a hit-and-run incident involving her family. The actress, known for her role in “This Is Us,” shared her anger in an Instagram story, where she addressed the driver who rear-ended their vehicle and then fled the scene. Moore, who is 41, shares three children with her husband Taylor Goldsmith: sons Gus, 4, and Ozzie, 2, and daughter Louise, 10 months. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident. Moore’s message to the driver was clear: “Hope your karma finds you.” She questioned the humanity of someone who would leave the scene of an accident without checking on those involved.
The hit-and-run incident is just one of many challenges Moore and her family have faced recently. Their home was partially destroyed by the Eaton Fire in Altadena last January. The fire also devastated the homes of Moore’s brother-in-law Griffin Goldsmith and sister-in-law Kit Goldsmith, as well as her parents-in-law. In response to these losses, Moore launched a GoFundMe campaign to support Griffin and Kit, who are expecting their first child. Despite criticism for seeking public donations, Moore clarified that she and her husband are also providing financial support to their family.
Moore has been vocal about the difficulties of rebuilding after the fires. She criticized Los Angeles County for what she described as “meaningless protocol” that hinders reconstruction efforts. According to Moore, obtaining necessary permits has been a slow and frustrating process, with only six permits issued in Altadena despite thousands of structures being destroyed. She emphasized that even with resources like insurance and contractors, navigating the bureaucratic red tape has been challenging.
Adding to their woes, Moore expressed disappointment with Amazon after a package was delivered to her in-laws’ demolished home. She called for better discretion from delivery services in areas affected by wildfires. Amazon has since reached out to apologize and investigate the incident further.
Moore continues to advocate for more streamlined processes to help fire victims rebuild their lives. She highlighted the need for a supportive system that facilitates recovery rather than complicates it. Her experiences underscore broader issues faced by many Californians dealing with similar challenges.
