A 19-year-old from Salisbury, Maryland, identified as Jayden Ballard, is facing serious charges after allegedly impersonating a police officer and conducting unauthorized traffic stops. According to the Maryland State Police, Ballard was served a criminal summons in February. He has been charged with impersonating a police officer and the unlawful taking of a motor vehicle. Authorities revealed that Ballard reportedly gained access to a marked Maryland State Police vehicle and was seen operating it while dressed in a Maryland State Police uniform throughout Wicomico County.
The investigation into Ballard’s activities began when the Maryland State Police received information suggesting that he had been conducting fake traffic stops. Photos have surfaced showing Ballard in a beige uniform with a radio attached to his chest, further supporting these allegations. The police are currently investigating how Ballard managed to obtain both the uniform and the police cruiser. A spokesperson for the Maryland State Police emphasized that uncovering this information is a key part of their ongoing investigation.
The case has raised public safety concerns, especially in light of recent incidents involving individuals posing as law enforcement officers. The Maryland State Police have urged anyone who may have encountered Ballard during these impersonations to contact their Criminal Enforcement Division. As the investigation continues, Ballard’s trial is scheduled to commence on September 24, as per online court records.
