The iconic Indian television show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, is set to make a grand comeback on July 29, 2025. The reboot promises to reignite nostalgia among fans as it returns to the small screen, featuring Smriti Irani reprising her role as Tulsi Virani. However, some beloved characters from the original series will not be part of this new chapter.
Sudha Shivpuri’s portrayal of Baa, the wise and affectionate matriarch, was a cornerstone of the original series. Her character, who passed away in the final episodes of the first part, will be missed in the reboot. Sudha Shivpuri herself passed away in 2015, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and wisdom.
Apara Mehta’s character, Savita Virani, was a formidable presence as Tulsi’s mother-in-law. Her dramatic exit in the original series, where she requested Tulsi to end her life by turning off her ventilator, remains etched in viewers’ memories. Savita’s absence will be felt as the reboot unfolds.
Sumeet Sachdev brought life to Gautam Virani, Tulsi’s elder son. His journey from Gomzy to Gautam captured the audience’s hearts. Unfortunately, Gautam will not be part of the reboot, leaving fans reminiscing about his impactful storyline.
Jaya Bhattacharya’s portrayal of Payal, one of the show’s most notorious villains, added intrigue and drama. Her relentless attempts to harm Tulsi made her a memorable character. While Payal won’t return in the reboot, fans can expect new antagonists to stir up trouble.
Akashdeep Saigal played Ansh, Tulsi’s rebellious son whose actions led to his demise at his mother’s hands. Ansh was a pivotal character whose absence will be notable in the new series.
The reboot will introduce fresh talent with Rohit Suchanti, Shagun Sharma, and Aman Gandhi joining the cast. Produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under Balaji Telefilms, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi will air on StarPlus and stream on JioHotstar.
