During the sacred month of Muharram in 1447 AH, corresponding to June-July 2025, Saudi Arabia’s Two Holy Mosques experienced an unprecedented influx of worshippers. Over 60 million pilgrims visited these revered sites, marking a significant milestone in religious tourism. The Grand Mosque in Mecca alone welcomed approximately 27.5 million visitors, including nearly 7.9 million Umrah pilgrims. This surge highlights the enduring spiritual significance of these locations and the dedication of Muslims worldwide to perform religious rites.
The Grand Mosque, known as Masjid al-Haram, is the focal point for millions of Muslims during Muharram. This year, it hosted around 27.5 million worshippers, underscoring its role as a central pillar of Islamic faith.
