A 32-year-old chartered accountant in Mumbai, identified as Raj Leela More, tragically ended his life on Tuesday after allegedly being blackmailed into paying over three crore rupees. According to police reports, More consumed poison and left behind a detailed three-page suicide note. The note accused two individuals, Rahul Parwani and Saba Qureshi, of extorting money from him by threatening to release a private video. The note revealed that the blackmail had been ongoing for the past 18 months. More stated that Parwani and Qureshi were aware of his significant investments in the stock market and his lucrative position as a chartered accountant. Exploiting this knowledge, they coerced him into transferring substantial sums from his company’s accounts to their personal accounts. Additionally, the accused reportedly seized a luxury car from More. More’s mother informed authorities that her son had been experiencing severe mental distress in recent months. The suicide note included a heartfelt apology to his family, urging them to take care of themselves. It also contained a message to his colleagues, where he expressed regret for breaking their trust and clarified that his actions were solely his responsibility. In the final part of the note, More explicitly blamed Rahul Parwani and Saba Qureshi for driving him to suicide. He accused them of manipulating and blackmailing him, leading to financial ruin and emotional turmoil. The police have registered a case of extortion and abetment to suicide against Parwani and Qureshi. However, no arrests have been made yet. Authorities continue to investigate the case while urging anyone in need of support to reach out to mental health helplines such as the Vandrevala Foundation for Mental Health and TISS iCall.
