Browns’ Myles Garrett Faces Speeding Citation for 100 mph in 60 mph Zone

Myles Garrett Cited for Speeding Near Team Facility

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was cited for driving at 100 mph in a 60 mph zone near the team’s facility in Strongsville, Ohio. The incident occurred early Saturday morning after the Browns returned from their preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. Despite not playing in the game, Garrett was reportedly on his way home when he was stopped by law enforcement. According to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot, Garrett received a $250 ticket, which he can settle without a court appearance.

Browns’ Response to Garrett’s Speeding Incident

The Cleveland Browns are aware of the speeding citation and plan to address the situation in Philadelphia before their next preseason game against the Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. This is not Garrett’s first speeding offense; it marks his eighth citation in the Cleveland area since being drafted first overall in 2017. In 2022, Garrett was involved in a car accident while speeding to avoid an animal.

Speeding Issues Among Browns Players

Speeding has been a recurring issue for the Browns this preseason. Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was also cited twice for speeding in June, with one incident involving him allegedly driving at 101 mph in a 60 mph zone. Sanders failed to appear for a court arraignment related to his first ticket and later acknowledged his mistakes during a charity event.

Garrett’s Performance and Future with the Browns

Despite off-field issues, Myles Garrett remains a key player for the Browns. He recently signed a four-year contract extension worth over $40 million per season, with $123 million guaranteed. Known for his defensive prowess, Garrett recorded 14 sacks and 47 tackles in the previous season, solidifying his reputation as one of the top defensive players in the NFL.
