Tragic Incident in Gurugram

Radhika Yadav, a 25-year-old national-level tennis player, was tragically shot by her father, Deepak Yadav, at their home in Gurugram. The incident occurred on Thursday morning while Radhika was preparing breakfast. Deepak fired five shots, three of which struck Radhika in the back, resulting in fatal injuries. The police reported that the shooting took place around 10:30 am.

Family Tensions and Motivations

Deepak Yadav, aged 49, confessed to the police that ongoing tensions within the family led to this tragic event. He cited taunts from villagers in their native Wazirabad as a significant factor. These taunts revolved around his daughter’s earnings and suggestions that he was living off her success. Deepak expressed that these comments deeply troubled him and contributed to his actions.

Immediate Aftermath

Kuldeep Yadav, Radhika’s uncle who resides on the ground floor of the same building, heard the gunshots and rushed to the scene. He found Radhika lying motionless on the kitchen floor with the revolver left in the adjacent drawing room. Despite immediate efforts to rush her to Asia Maringo Hospital in Sector 56, doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival.

Underlying Family Issues

The police investigation revealed that Radhika’s financial independence and her presence on social media platforms like Instagram, as well as her appearance in a music video, were sources of tension within the family. Deepak had reportedly asked Radhika to close her tennis academy due to these issues, but she refused.

Witness Accounts and Legal Proceedings

Deepak’s wife, Manju Yadav, was present at home during the incident but has declined to provide a written statement. She reportedly had a fever and had locked herself in her room at the time of the shooting. The police continue their investigation into this tragic case.
