Parents Assault Bihar Teacher After Child Slapped in Class

In a dramatic incident at a school in Bihar’s Gaya district, a group of angry parents stormed the premises and assaulted a teacher, Rakesh Ranjan Srivastava, after he allegedly slapped their child. The altercation began when two Class 5 students were involved in a fight, prompting another student to report the incident to Mr. Srivastava. Attempting to resolve the situation, the teacher intervened and slapped both students involved in the scuffle. While this temporarily calmed the situation, one of the students fled the school and informed his family about being slapped.

The student’s parents quickly arrived at the school, disrupting ongoing classes and creating chaos. Upon locating Mr. Srivastava, they physically attacked him with slaps, punches, and sticks. Staff members who tried to intervene were also assaulted, despite pleas from a female teacher to cease the violence. The commotion caused panic among students, who sought refuge in safe areas within the school.

Police arrived shortly after to restore order and defuse the tense situation. Mr. Srivastava and another teacher, Dharmendra Kumar, who was also injured during the incident, were taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Mr. Srivastava sustained injuries to his hand and waist.

Following a complaint from Mr. Srivastava, police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter. The school’s headmaster, Pankaj Kumar, condemned the attack as an affront to the education system. He emphasized that ensuring both the education of children and the safety of teachers is paramount and called for strict action against those responsible for the assault.
