Global Pilots’ Association Criticizes AI 171 Crash Report, Warns Against Rushed Judgments

Global Pilots’ Body Raises Concerns Over AI 171 Crash Report

The International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA) has expressed significant concerns following the release of the preliminary report on the Air India AI 171 crash in Ahmedabad. The organization has criticized the report for not providing clear answers and has warned against drawing “hasty conclusions” from its findings. This cautionary stance comes amid widespread speculation and theories regarding the cause of the crash, including a controversial suggestion of pilot suicide.

Criticism of Suicide Theory

IFALPA’s statement specifically addresses the circulating theory that suggests pilot suicide as a potential cause of the crash. The organization has labeled such insinuations as “reckless and unfounded,” emphasizing the need for a thorough and unbiased investigation. The pilots’ body insists that jumping to conclusions without concrete evidence could undermine the integrity of the investigation process and potentially mislead public perception.

ICPA’s Strong Condemnation

Echoing IFALPA’s concerns, the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) has also condemned the suicide theory. The ICPA has criticized what it describes as an irresponsible narrative that could damage the reputation of pilots involved and affect their families. The association calls for a more measured approach to analyzing the report’s findings, urging stakeholders to await further evidence before forming conclusions.

Call for Comprehensive Investigation

Both IFALPA and ICPA stress the importance of a comprehensive investigation that considers all possible factors contributing to the crash. They advocate for transparency and thoroughness in examining technical, operational, and human factors involved in the incident. By doing so, they aim to ensure that any conclusions drawn are based on solid evidence rather than speculation or incomplete information.
