Newly released dashcam footage from the Wenatchee Police Department captures Travis Decker, a military-trained father from Washington, just days before his three daughters were tragically found dead. The video, obtained by Fox 13, shows Decker calmly interacting with police after a minor car accident. This encounter occurred on May 27, three days before the girls—Olivia, 5, Paityn, 9, and Evelyn, 8—were reported missing following a court-mandated visitation with their father.
In the footage, Decker is seen wearing a blue shirt and shorts while standing in a Safeway parking lot. He had rear-ended another vehicle that had slowed for traffic, resulting in damage to his truck’s front bumper. The police report indicates that Decker was issued an infraction via mail for driving without insurance and following too closely. During the interaction, Decker appeared relaxed as he leaned against his truck while speaking with the officer.
The situation took a grim turn when Decker’s ex-wife reported the children missing after they failed to return home. Days later, the young girls were discovered asphyxiated at a local camping ground near Decker’s abandoned truck. Authorities have since launched an extensive manhunt involving local, state, and federal agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service.
On July 5, authorities received a tip about a possible sighting of Decker in Idaho’s Sawtooth National Forest. However, this lead was later confirmed to be false. Despite these setbacks, officials continue to search for Decker, who is considered armed and dangerous but not an immediate threat to the public.
Travis Decker faces charges of three counts of aggravated first-degree murder and kidnapping. The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $20,000 reward for any information leading to his arrest. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as they strive to bring justice for the tragic loss of Olivia, Paityn, and Evelyn.
