Radhika Yadav, a former state-level tennis player, did not operate her own tennis academy. Instead, she trained aspiring players by booking various tennis courts across different locations. This unconventional method of training was a point of contention between her and her father, Deepak Yadav. According to Gurugram Police, Deepak objected to Radhika’s approach and had asked her multiple times to cease these training sessions.
The 25-year-old was tragically shot dead at point-blank range by her father at their home in the Sushant Lok area of Sector 57, Gurugram. The incident occurred on Thursday, and police have since revealed that Deepak confessed to the crime. Initially, it was believed that Radhika ran a tennis academy, which was thought to be the source of tension between the two due to taunts about Deepak living off his daughter’s income.
Despite being financially stable with rental income from various properties, Deepak was reportedly depressed due to the taunts he received. The police stated that this depression may have contributed to the tragic event. During his remand, police recovered five bullets and one live cartridge from their residence.
There were speculations that Radhika’s social media presence and her involvement in a music video with an independent artist might have been factors in her murder. However, Inspector Vinod Kumar clarified that these claims were unfounded and unrelated to the incident. The primary issue remained Radhika’s training sessions.
A close relative mentioned that Deepak had supported Radhika’s tennis career since her childhood. Despite his support, he repeatedly asked her to stop holding training sessions, which she refused. The post-mortem report revealed that Radhika sustained four bullet wounds—three in the back and one in the shoulder. Her last rites were conducted at their village in Wazirabad on Friday.
