Indian cricketer Yash Dayal, known for his role as a pacer with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), is embroiled in a serious legal battle following allegations of rape. An FIR has been filed against Dayal at Jaipur’s Sanganer Police Station, accusing him of raping a minor over two years. The complaint alleges that Dayal emotionally manipulated the girl, promising her a cricketing career, and invited her to a hotel in Sitapura, where the first incident occurred. The victim was only 17 at the time, leading to charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
This case emerges shortly after the Allahabad High Court intervened in another legal matter involving Dayal. The court stayed his arrest concerning an FIR filed against him for allegedly exploiting another woman. Justices Siddhartha Varma and Anil Kumar issued this order while reviewing Dayal’s petition challenging the FIR. The court has requested a counter affidavit from the state counsel and issued notices to the complainant for her response.
The initial FIR against 27-year-old Dayal was registered on July 6 at Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad district under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to deceitful sexual intercourse. The allegations involve promises of marriage that were allegedly never intended to be fulfilled. Dayal’s legal team argues that charges under Section 69 require proof of intent not to marry at the time of promise.
According to the complainant, she met Dayal five years ago, during which he promised marriage but continually postponed it. She later discovered his involvement with other women. The complaint was initially lodged on June 21 through the chief minister’s online grievance portal.
