Since its release on July 18, 2025, Mohit Suri’s film “Saiyaara” has become a cultural sensation. The movie, featuring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has captivated audiences and critics alike. Its impressive box office performance has been a testament to its widespread appeal, especially considering it stars fresh faces in the industry. The film has maintained a strong presence at the box office, completing three weeks since its debut.
Renowned film critic Taran Adarsh shared his perspective with NDTV regarding the possibility of “Saiyaara” crossing the Rs 500 crore mark in India. Adarsh expressed skepticism about reaching this milestone but acknowledged the film’s remarkable achievement for a newcomer-led project. He highlighted that “Saiyaara” has shattered records, becoming the highest-grossing film featuring new actors and surpassing the Rs 300 crore mark—a first for such a film.
“Saiyaara” has faced stiff competition from films like Ajay Devgn’s “Son of Sardaar 2” and Dharma Productions’ “Dhadak 2,” starring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi. Despite this, it continues to perform strongly, having entered the Rs 300 crore club on August 4. Internationally, “Saiyaara” has also made significant strides, crossing the Rs 500 crore mark globally, showcasing its universal appeal.
As of August 7, “Saiyaara” has earned Rs 1.85 crore, bringing its total to Rs 308.45 crore domestically, according to Sacnilk. Meanwhile, “Dhadak 2” and “Son Of Sardaar 2,” released on August 1, have not posed significant threats to “Saiyaara’s” dominance.
While Taran Adarsh doubts “Saiyaara” will reach Rs 500 crore in India, its global success is undeniable. The film stands as the second-highest-grossing movie of the year after Vicky Kaushal’s “Chhaava,” marking one of the most successful opening weekends of the year.
