Scott Brown Criticizes Warren’s Alliance with Mamdani as ‘Extreme Left’

Former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown, now vying for the Republican nomination in New Hampshire’s 2026 Senate race, has voiced strong criticism against Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani and his former opponent, Senator Elizabeth Warren. In a recent joint press conference, Warren praised Mamdani, stating he is “the guy who’s walking the walk right now.” Brown, however, sees this alliance as emblematic of what he calls “the party of the extreme left,” which he associates with figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders.
Brown’s comments come amid a broader political strategy to link his likely Democratic opponent, Rep. Chris Pappas, to the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. Brown argues that Pappas’s voting record aligns closely with that of Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders, suggesting that such positions are out of touch with New Hampshire voters. This narrative was further emphasized in a digital ad titled “Comrade Chris,” which visually associates Pappas with Mamdani and Ocasio-Cortez.
In response to these attacks, Pappas has defended his record as a New Hampshire Democrat who works across party lines. He dismissed Brown’s campaign tactics as misleading and emphasized his focus on local issues rather than the political dynamics in New York City. Pappas also highlighted the ongoing Republican efforts to mischaracterize him through costly attack ads.
Brown’s strategy reflects a broader Republican effort to use Mamdani as a symbol of socialism and extremism to challenge vulnerable Democrats nationwide. He warns that if Mamdani wins the mayoral race, it could influence other Democrats to adopt more extreme positions, alienating voters in states like New Hampshire. Brown draws parallels to his 2010 Senate victory, suggesting a similar political energy is present today.
