Shannon Price Defends Decision to Remove Gary Coleman from Life Support

Shannon Price, the ex-wife of late actor Gary Coleman, has publicly defended her decision to remove him from life support following his tragic fall in 2010. Coleman, known for his role in “Diff’rent Strokes,” suffered an intracranial hemorrhage at his Utah home, which led to a medically induced coma. Despite Coleman’s will requesting a 15-day period before ending life support, Price instructed the hospital to proceed with the removal just two days later.

**Price’s Perspective on the Decision**

In an upcoming A&E special titled “Lie Detector: Truth or Deception,” Price explains her rationale, stating that medical professionals informed her of Coleman’s dire condition. She claims that despite her efforts and a request for resuscitation, doctors advised that Coleman was unlikely to survive. Price insists she made the right decision based on the medical advice and her observations of Coleman’s condition.

**The Aftermath and Public Scrutiny**

Price has faced significant public scrutiny over her actions, particularly due to a recorded 911 call where she appeared hesitant to assist Coleman due to the presence of blood. In the special, she admits she could have done more to help him but maintains her innocence regarding any wrongdoing. The Santaquin Police Chief confirmed there was no criminal investigation into Coleman’s death, which was officially ruled an accident.

**Polygraph Test Controversy**

The A&E special features a polygraph test conducted by retired FBI agent George Olivo, which indicated “deception” when Price was questioned about Coleman’s fall. Despite this result, Olivo clarified that he does not accuse Price of intentional harm but suggests there may be more to the story than she has revealed. Price criticized the testing process as unfair and uncomfortable, asserting that it prioritized ratings over truth.

**Price’s Reflections and Regrets**

Reflecting on her relationship with Coleman, Price expressed regret over their divorce and her inability to save his life. She emphasized that despite their separation, they remained close until his death. Price believes she is at peace with her actions and attributes her lack of legal repercussions to a thorough investigation clearing her of any criminal involvement.
