Former India coach Ravi Shastri has commended KL Rahul for his recent batting success against England, attributing it to a refined “front-foot” technique. According to Shastri, this adjustment has significantly enhanced Rahul’s productivity with the bat. The senior batter has amassed 375 runs in three Tests, including two centuries and a fifty, maintaining an impressive average of 62.50. This performance places him as the fourth highest run-scorer in the series, trailing behind Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Jamie Smith.

Shastri observed that Rahul’s slight modification in his stance and defensive play has been pivotal. By opening up his front foot, Rahul allows his bat to swing through more cleanly, even when targeting mid-wicket. Looking ahead, Shastri is optimistic about Rahul’s potential to dominate with the bat over the next few years. He expressed confidence that Rahul can capitalize on his current form and achieve an average close to 50 by consistently scoring hundreds. With 61 Tests under his belt, Rahul has accumulated 3,632 runs at an average of 35.3, including 10 centuries and 18 half-centuries.
