A former teacher from South Carolina, Nicole Ballew Callaham, aged 33, has been charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct involving a minor. Callaham turned herself in to the Anderson County Detention Center on Thursday, as confirmed by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. She faces three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The investigation into Callaham’s alleged misconduct began in May. Authorities discovered that the inappropriate relationship started in 2021 and persisted for at least two years. During this time, Callaham was employed as a teacher and reportedly engaged in “grooming behavior” with the victim, who was in his early teenage years. The sheriff’s office stated that Callaham’s actions included signing the student out of school, transporting him to practices, and supervising after-school activities. These interactions allegedly led to a sustained pattern of abuse.
The victim, now 18, came forward to report the abuse after processing the trauma associated with his experiences. His cooperation has been crucial in corroborating the allegations against Callaham. The investigation was further supported by search warrants and ongoing collaboration with the victim’s family.
In addition to the charges in Anderson County, similar charges have been filed by the Greenville City Police Department. The alleged misconduct extended into Greenville when the victim attended school there. As a result of these allegations, Callaham has resigned from her position at Anderson School District Five. Efforts to reach the district for comments have been made by Fox News Digital.
