Suspected Terrorist Hideout Cave Destroyed in J&K’s Kishtwar

Anti-Terror Operation Intensifies in Kishtwar

An ongoing anti-terror operation in the mountainous region of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district has escalated, with security forces targeting suspected terrorist hideouts. The operation commenced following specific intelligence reports indicating the presence of terrorists in the area. On Sunday morning, contact was established, leading to an exchange of heavy gunfire and explosions.

Destruction of Suspected Terrorist Hideout

This morning, troops successfully blasted a natural cave believed to be used by terrorists as a hideout. The destruction of the cave resulted in massive explosions, followed by fire and a plume of smoke. However, it remains unclear if any terrorists were neutralized during this action.

Rising Security Challenges in Jammu Province

Kishtwar district, along with seven other districts in Jammu province, has emerged as a significant security concern due to the increased presence of highly trained terrorists from Pakistan. The region, which was free from terrorism until 2021, is now witnessing major terrorist attacks and encounters.

Prolonged Encounter in Kulgam’s Akhal Forests

Simultaneously, security forces are engaged in one of the longest anti-terror operations in the forests of Akhal in Kulgam district. Now on its eleventh day, the encounter has seen two Indian Army soldiers killed and two others injured. The operation began on August 1, initially resulting in the death of a local terrorist. However, as the encounter extended into the dense forest area, it has posed significant challenges for the forces. Official sources report that ten security personnel have been injured so far.

Use of Drones in Anti-Terror Operations

In addition to ground operations, drones have been deployed to drop explosives on target areas within the thick alpine forests of Akhal. This strategic use of technology aims to flush out entrenched terrorists and secure the region.
