Tanushree Dutta, a prominent figure in the 2018 #MeToo movement in Bollywood, recently shared a distressing video on Instagram, revealing her ongoing struggles with harassment at her home. In the video, she is visibly upset and pleads for assistance, stating that she has been enduring harassment for the past 4-5 years. The actress has reached out to the police for intervention, expressing her desperation and declining health due to the constant stress.
In her emotional video, Tanushree explains that she contacted the police after feeling overwhelmed by the harassment. The police advised her to file a formal complaint at the station, which she plans to do soon despite her deteriorating health. She describes her home as chaotic, unable to hire maids due to previous negative experiences involving theft and misconduct. Tanushree feels trapped and troubled in her own home, pleading for someone to help her.
Accompanying the video, Tanushree wrote a heartfelt caption expressing her exhaustion from the harassment that has persisted since 2018. She urged for immediate action before it’s too late. In an Instagram Story, she detailed the disturbances she faces, including loud noises and unsolicited visitors at her door despite clear instructions not to disturb.
Tanushree Dutta gained attention during the #MeToo movement when she accused actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment during a film shoot in 2009. Although she initially filed a complaint in 2008, no action was taken at the time. In 2018, her lawyer requested further investigation into Patekar and others involved. However, in 2019, Patekar was cleared of charges by the police.
Tanushree’s sister, Ishita Dutta, has spoken about the challenges Tanushree faced after making her allegations public. Ishita highlighted an incident where police intervention prevented further escalation during a confrontation in 2008. Despite these challenges, Tanushree remains known for her roles in films like Aashiq Banaya Apne and Bhagam Bhag and as Femina Miss India Universe 2004.
