Tanushree Dutta, a prominent figure in the #MeToo movement in India, has expressed grave concerns for her safety in Mumbai. In a recent interview with News 18, she claimed that a powerful faction within Bollywood is targeting her. Drawing parallels with the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Tanushree stated, “The Bollywood mafia gang is huge, and like Sushant, my life is also in danger.” This statement comes shortly after she posted a disturbing video on Instagram, where she voiced fears of an attempt on her life.
Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in 2020 sent shockwaves across the nation. Found dead in his Mumbai residence, his passing sparked widespread speculation and conspiracy theories regarding the influence of Bollywood lobbies. Despite extensive investigations, no evidence of foul play has been confirmed in his case.
Tanushree has been vocal about the harassment she faces at home since she publicly named individuals in the industry during the #MeToo movement in 2018. In a conversation with NDTV, she highlighted the alleged nexus between politicians and harassers in Mumbai. Reflecting on her experience with the Mumbai Police during the movement, she expressed frustration over the lack of action despite filing detailed complaints.
In her recent video, Tanushree shared her ongoing ordeal, stating that she had to call the police due to harassment at her residence. Although advised to file a formal complaint at the station, her deteriorating health has delayed this step. She attributes her health issues to continuous harassment over the past few years.
Tanushree’s allegations against actor Nana Patekar date back to 2008 when she accused him of sexual harassment during a film shoot. Despite filing complaints and seeking legal recourse, Patekar was cleared of charges in 2019. The police report suggested that Tanushree’s complaint might have been “malicious” or “out of revenge.”
