A shooting incident in New York City’s Times Square left three individuals injured early Saturday morning. The gunfire erupted around 1:20 a.m. near the intersection of 44th Street and 7th Avenue, a bustling area known for its iconic landmarks like the Hard Rock Café and Carmine’s Italian Restaurant. The shooting sent people scrambling for safety in what is designated as a gun-free zone.
The victims include an 18-year-old woman and two men aged 19 and 65. All were promptly transported to Bellevue Hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. The swift response by emergency services helped ensure the victims received immediate medical attention.
A 17-year-old suspect has been detained in connection with the shooting. Although no charges have been filed yet, police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances that led to the dispute and subsequent gunfire. Authorities have not disclosed what triggered the altercation between the individuals involved.
Video footage from the scene depicts a chaotic environment with a significant police presence and first responders attending to the injured. One man was seen lying on the ground near an SUV before being placed on a gurney and taken to an ambulance. A woman, visibly shaken but uninjured, exited the same vehicle. Police have not confirmed if any SUV occupants were among the victims.
The investigation remains active as police work to gather more details about the incident. This shooting is part of a troubling pattern of gun violence involving teenagers in Times Square, following similar incidents earlier this year.
