She stated, “We better have the courage to stand up, otherwise we will fall for anything.” Jones later apologized for her comments, acknowledging that her comparison to the Holocaust was inappropriate and retracting her statement.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s press secretary, Andrew Mahaleris, criticized Jones’ comments, describing the Democrats’ actions as a “desperate, anti-democratic stunt.” He urged Democrats to return to Texas and fulfill their legislative duties. Meanwhile, Texas Speaker of the House Dustin Burrows announced plans to issue arrest warrants for absent Democrat lawmakers if authorized by a chamber vote. Governor Abbott also called on the Texas Department of Public Safety to arrest the absent Democrats and threatened expulsion from the House.
