A Texas-based company, Campus Guardian Angel, has introduced a groundbreaking drone system designed to confront school shooters within seconds. This innovative technology aims to enhance classroom safety across America by providing a rapid response mechanism during emergencies. The drones are strategically stationed inside schools and are ready to deploy the moment an emergency alert is triggered. Controlled remotely from a central operation center in Austin, Texas, these drones are stored in charging boxes within the school premises.

How the Drone System Works

Once activated, the drones are designed to incapacitate a shooter within 60 seconds by firing powder pellets. This swift action is intended to buy crucial time for local law enforcement to arrive at the scene. According to Campus Guardian Angel founder and CEO Justin Marston, most mass shootings occur within the first 120 seconds, often concluding before law enforcement can intervene. The drone system ensures that a response is already in place, similar to how sprinklers are pre-installed for fire emergencies.

Cost-Effective Safety Solution

Marston emphasizes the cost-effectiveness of this approach, estimating it at around $4 per student per month. This cost decreases with larger school districts, making it an affordable safety measure. He compares the total cost of protecting a child throughout their K-12 education to the price of a one-way domestic flight ticket, highlighting its value for parents concerned about their children’s safety.

Pilot Projects and Future Prospects

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has approved pilot projects in three counties within the state, and private schools in other states are also collaborating with Campus Guardian Angel to implement this technology.
