Texas Woman Faces Indictment for Alleged Murder Plot

A Texas woman, Pamela Jean Stanley, has been indicted following accusations of attempting to murder her ex-husband using fentanyl-laced chocolates. The 63-year-old from Coleman was arrested on May 30 in Parker County after a sting operation conducted by the Special Crimes Unit (SCU) of the Parker County Sheriff’s Office. The indictment, issued on July 10, includes charges of criminal solicitation with intent to commit murder, criminal attempt to commit murder, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Alleged Plot Involved Fentanyl-Laced Chocolates

According to Sheriff Russ Authier, Stanley allegedly devised a plan to send her ex-husband poisoned chocolates disguised as a congratulatory gift from a travel agency. The gift was purportedly celebrating his recent engagement. Authorities revealed that Stanley was recorded discussing her intention to inject powdered fentanyl into high-end chocolates and mail them with a fake honeymoon incentive offer.

Sting Operation Leads to Arrest

The investigation began after a tip-off from a concerned citizen alerted deputies. SCU investigators then posed as fentanyl dealers and arranged a meeting with Stanley at the Scottish Inn Motel parking lot in Weatherford. She traveled several hours from Coleman, Texas, to finalize the deal. Upon accepting what she believed was fentanyl, Stanley was immediately apprehended by law enforcement.

Discovery of Methamphetamine During Arrest

Following her arrest, a search of Stanley’s vehicle uncovered 11.76 grams of methamphetamine. The substance tested positive in a field test and was subsequently submitted to the Parker County evidence vault. Her bond has been set at $450,000.

Sheriff Commends Quick Investigation

Sheriff Authier praised the swift action of the SCU investigators and the crucial information provided by the tipster, which facilitated the rapid progression of the investigation.
