President Donald Trump has reiterated his reasons for banning Jeffrey Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago estate, citing inappropriate actions by the disgraced financier. During a conversation with reporters aboard Air Force One in Scotland, Trump elaborated on his previous statements, accusing Epstein of “stealing” employees from the Mar-a-Lago spa. This revelation sheds light on the strained relationship between the two men, which reportedly ended after a series of incidents involving employee poaching.
According to Trump, the fallout with Epstein began when the latter allegedly recruited several young women working at Mar-a-Lago, including Virginia Giuffre, a high-profile accuser of Epstein. Trump stated that he warned Epstein against such actions, emphasizing that these employees worked for him. The situation escalated when Epstein continued to hire individuals from Trump’s estate, leading to his permanent ban from Mar-a-Lago.
Virginia Giuffre, who tragically died by suicide in March, played a significant role in advocating for Epstein’s arrest. She claimed to have been recruited by Ghislaine Maxwell while employed at Mar-a-Lago. Although not directly involved in Epstein’s criminal prosecutions, Giuffre remained a central figure in the case against him. Trump’s comments highlighted her lack of complaints about her time at Mar-a-Lago.
Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former associate, is currently serving a 20-year sentence for her involvement in procuring young girls for Epstein. Recently subpoenaed to testify before the House Oversight Committee, Maxwell has requested immunity in exchange for her testimony—a request that has been denied. Her legal team is also appealing her 2021 conviction to the U.S. Supreme Court, arguing she should have been included in a 2007 non-prosecution agreement made with Epstein.
In a separate statement, Trump mentioned he declined an invitation to visit Epstein’s island, a decision he described as one of his “very good moments.” He noted that many people from Palm Beach were invited but emphasized his choice not to participate.
