Tua Tagovailoa, the renowned football quarterback, has expressed his honor at being appointed to President Donald Trump’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition. This council, reestablished through an executive order signed by Trump, aims to promote physical fitness and nutrition across the nation. While Tagovailoa was unable to attend the White House event due to training commitments, he conveyed his pride in being part of this esteemed group.
The council is chaired by Bryson DeChambeau and includes prominent figures such as Lawrence Taylor, Harrison Butker, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, and Annika Sorenstam. Other notable members named by the White House include Gary Bettman, Cody Campbell, Roger Goodell, Wayne Gretzky, Nelly Korda, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Mariano Rivera, Tony Romo, and Matthew Tkachuk. However, Saquon Barkley declined the invitation to join.
Tagovailoa admitted to not knowing much about the council initially but expressed enthusiasm about his involvement. His connection to the Trump family was highlighted when Ivanka Trump shared photos on Instagram featuring Tagovailoa and wide receiver Braxton Berrios enjoying family activities. These posts included images of her husband Jared Kushner with Tagovailoa and her son.
Tagovailoa’s wife, Annah, has shown support for President Trump in the past. In October, she praised Trump’s response to Hurricane Milton on Instagram. Despite some negative comments directed at her and Tua regarding his recent concussion during a game against the Buffalo Bills, Annah’s post received praise from others.
The quarterback’s concussion history has raised concerns about his long-term health and future in the NFL. This incident marked his third concussion in his professional career, prompting discussions about player safety in the sport.
