Ty Burrell Embraces Family Life in Utah After ‘Modern Family’ Success

Ty Burrell’s Transition from Hollywood to Utah

Ty Burrell, renowned for his role as Phil Dunphy on the acclaimed sitcom “Modern Family,” has made a significant life change by relocating from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City, Utah. Following the conclusion of the popular series, Burrell and his wife, Holly, decided to leave the bustling Hollywood scene to provide a quieter upbringing for their daughters. In a recent interview with People magazine, Burrell expressed no regrets about this decision, describing their new lifestyle as “spectacular” and ideal for raising children. Despite his move away from the limelight, Burrell remains active in the entertainment industry through voiceover work, which allows him more time for family activities.

Adjusting to a New Lifestyle

Burrell candidly shared that adapting to life in Utah initially felt like “cosplay,” as he and his family were not accustomed to outdoor activities. However, over time, they have grown to genuinely appreciate and enjoy their new environment. This transition reflects a broader trend among “Modern Family” cast members seeking a more balanced life away from Hollywood’s pressures.

Ariel Winter’s Escape from Hollywood’s Harsh Spotlight

Burrell is not alone in his departure from Los Angeles. Co-star Ariel Winter also left Hollywood after facing intense scrutiny and negative media attention during her teenage years. Winter revealed that constant criticism about her appearance severely impacted her self-esteem. Additionally, she endured personal challenges, including alleged abuse by her mother, leading to her placement under her sister’s custody at age 14. Winter credits this change for allowing her to enjoy her remaining teenage years.

Eric Stonestreet’s Return to Kansas City

Another “Modern Family” alum, Eric Stonestreet, who portrayed Cameron Tucker, has also opted for a quieter life outside of Hollywood. After 11 successful seasons on the show, Stonestreet returned to his roots in Kansas City. He reflected on how Hollywood amplifies both the positive and negative aspects of the entertainment industry. Despite some perks of living in Los Angeles, Stonestreet appreciates the authenticity and real moments he experiences back home.

The Future of ‘Modern Family’ Spin-Offs

While fans may hope for a “Modern Family” spin-off, Stonestreet indicated that such plans are unlikely to materialize. Although a promising script was developed featuring his character and Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s character in Missouri, it was ultimately not pursued by the network.
