UAE Tops Global Rankings in Mobile Shopping Adoption

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has emerged as a global leader in mobile shopping, with a remarkable 67% of consumers utilizing smartphones for their recent purchases. This figure places the UAE ahead of other countries such as Saudi Arabia and Singapore, highlighting a significant shift towards mobile commerce in the region. The surge in mobile shopping is attributed to several factors, including the convenience and security offered by mobile platforms, as well as the seamless omnichannel experiences that businesses are providing to consumers. Since 2022, there has been a notable 23% growth in mobile shopping usage, underscoring the rapid adoption of this technology. Millennials are at the forefront of this trend, demonstrating the highest levels of engagement with mobile shopping platforms. However, Generation X is also showing a strong reliance on mobile devices for their shopping needs, indicating that this trend is not limited to younger demographics. The increasing popularity of cross-channel shopping experiences is another key factor driving this growth. Consumers are now more inclined to switch between different channels—such as online and in-store—during their shopping journey, seeking the best deals and most convenient options. Businesses in the UAE are responding to this shift by enhancing their digital offerings and ensuring that their platforms provide a user-friendly experience. This includes investing in secure payment systems and developing apps that facilitate easy navigation and purchase processes. As mobile shopping continues to gain traction, it is expected to play an increasingly important role in the retail landscape of the UAE and beyond.
