The lawsuit accused the university of mishandling anti-Israel protests that led to the creation of a “Jew Exclusion Zone” on campus. This area allegedly barred Jewish students from accessing certain parts of the university, sparking claims of antisemitism and discrimination.

The lawsuit was initiated by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, which charged UCLA with fostering an antisemitic environment. The fund claimed that the university’s actions amounted to “aiding and abetting” discrimination by allowing protesters to segregate Jewish students.
