Woman’s Heartbreaking Suicide Note Exposes Dowry Abuse

In a tragic incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat, a 28-year-old woman named Manisha died by suicide earlier this week, leaving behind a poignant suicide note inscribed on her body. The note, written on her arm, legs, and stomach, detailed the relentless harassment she faced from her husband, Kundan, and his family over dowry demands. This heartbreaking event unfolded on Tuesday night when Manisha consumed poison, unable to bear the pressure any longer.

Manisha also recorded a video before her death, which has been accessed by the police. In the video, she tearfully narrated the abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband and in-laws. She accused them of persistently demanding a car and a substantial sum of money, despite her family having already spent Rs 20 lakh on the wedding and providing a Bullet motorcycle as dowry. Discussions about divorce began just four days before her death, but Manisha insisted on not signing any papers until her dowry items were returned.
