Jordan Addison’s Suspension Details

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison has been handed a three-game suspension by the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. This decision follows Addison’s plea of no contest to a lesser charge in a DUI case from 2024. The NFL announced the suspension on Tuesday, highlighting the league’s commitment to maintaining strict conduct standards among its players.

Incident Leading to Suspension

In July 2024, Addison was discovered asleep in his white Rolls-Royce by the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle was blocking a lane, prompting a response from law enforcement. Following his arrest, Addison agreed to a plea bargain known as “wet reckless,” which is a reduced charge from DUI to reckless driving, indicating the involvement of alcohol or drugs.

Legal Proceedings and Consequences

By pleading no contest, Addison avoided a trial for the two misdemeanor DUI charges stemming from his arrest on July 12, 2024. His attorney, Jacqueline Sparagna, stated that Addison will pay a fine and complete two online courses. Additionally, his probation period is expected to be reduced from 12 months to six months.

Impact on Vikings’ Season

Despite the suspension, Addison will participate in preseason games against the Houston Texans, New England Patriots, and Tennessee Titans. However, he will miss regular-season games against the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, and Cincinnati Bengals. This absence will be felt by the Vikings as they rely on their strong wide receiver duo of Addison and Justin Jefferson. Last season, Addison recorded 63 catches for 875 yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games.

Team Dynamics Without Addison

With JJ McCarthy set to make his first career start as the team’s quarterback in Week 1, he will have to adjust without one of his key targets. The Vikings’ offense will lean heavily on Justin Jefferson, who had an impressive previous season with 103 catches for 1,533 yards and 10 touchdowns.
