Viral Video of Drug Peddler’s Bail Celebration Leads to 45 Arrests

Drug Peddler’s Release Sparks Controversy

Kamran Mohammad Khan, a known drug peddler, was recently released on bail from Thane Central Jail. His release, however, did not go unnoticed. A grand celebration ensued, leading to the arrest of 45 individuals. The event, which took place on July 16, involved loud music, firecrackers, and slogans that created a public nuisance. The police were quick to act after a video of the celebration went viral, prompting them to register a case against those involved.

Public Disturbance and Legal Action

The night of Khan’s release saw a gathering of his former prison inmates and 35 others near the jail. They traveled in a convoy to Nayanagar in Mira Road, where the celebration continued near a hotel. The group’s actions included bursting firecrackers and playing loud music, which an official described as creating “an atmosphere of fear and public disturbance.” The viral video showed Khan embracing loved ones amidst the chaos, with smoke from the firecrackers filling the area.

Police Intervention and Legal Proceedings

The widespread circulation of the video caught the attention of law enforcement. An officer from the local police station noted that the group was violating prohibitory orders in place at the time. Consequently, the Mira-Bhayandar Vasai-Virar (MBVV) Police registered a case against 45 individuals under section 189 (unlawful assembly) and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Maharashtra Police Act.

Ongoing Investigation

Out of the 45 accused, nine have been identified by name in the FIR. The police are actively working to verify the identities of the remaining individuals involved in this incident. This case highlights the challenges law enforcement faces in maintaining public order and enforcing legal provisions effectively.
