Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) cricketer Yash Dayal has approached the Allahabad High Court to seek a stay on his arrest following allegations of mental and physical exploitation. The Ghaziabad Police recently booked him under Section 69 of the BNS, which pertains to sexual intercourse by deceitful means, including false promises of marriage. The complaint was filed by a woman who claims that Dayal misled her with the promise of marriage.
In his writ petition, Dayal has denied any physical relationship with the complainant. He argues that the woman was treated like a daughter-in-law by his parents, indicating no intention to deceive her. The petition suggests that the relationship soured due to changes in the woman’s attitude, leading Dayal to decide against marriage.
The complainant has provided evidence such as chat records, screenshots, video calls, and photos to support her claims. She alleges that Dayal introduced her to his family as their daughter-in-law and exploited her emotionally, mentally, and physically over a five-year relationship. The UP Chief Minister’s portal highlighted these allegations in a message to local police authorities.
Dayal’s petition contends that even if the woman’s claims are true, they represent a failure to fulfill a promise rather than a false promise. He maintains that their relationship was mutual and deteriorated due to the complainant’s actions. The petition also refutes claims of entering into a relationship under false pretenses.
The case has broader implications as it raises questions about consent and promises within relationships. The complaint also mentions that Dayal may have been involved in similar situations with other women, adding complexity to the legal proceedings.
