Delhi Faces Waterlogging Chaos Amid Heavy Rain, More Showers Predicted

Heavy Rain Causes Disruption in Delhi

Delhi experienced significant disruption on Saturday morning due to heavy and continuous rainfall, which led to widespread waterlogging. Key areas such as Panchkuian Marg, Mathura Road, and the road outside Bharat Mandapam were severely affected, causing vehicular traffic to come to a standstill. The downpour has not only impacted road transportation but also affected air travel, with flight delays reported.

Impact on Air Travel

According to Flightradar, Delhi is witnessing an average delay of at least 15 minutes for flight departures and a five-minute delay for arrivals. Despite these delays, the Delhi airport has assured passengers that all flights are currently operating normally. Airlines have issued advisories urging passengers to verify their flight status before heading to the airport.

Airlines Issue Passenger Advisories

IndiGo has advised travelers to allow extra time for their journey due to blocked or slow-moving roads across Delhi. They recommend checking flight status on their website or app before leaving for the airport. Similarly, SpiceJet has warned passengers that all departures and arrivals may be affected by the inclement weather.

Weather Forecast and Advisory

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a “thunderstorm with rain” warning for Delhi today. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to settle at 25 degrees Celsius. Passengers are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and plan their travel accordingly.
