Giants Teams from NFL and MLB Share Lighthearted Moment Over Iconic Radio Call

A Humorous Connection Between Giants Teams

The San Francisco Giants and New York Giants recently shared a playful moment, poking fun at a memorable 2015 radio call to Mike Francesa. The call, made by “Dan in Warwick,” questioned whether the MLB and NFL teams with the same name had ever held a joint meeting. Francesa, a legendary New York sports radio host, was taken aback by the unusual query, humorously suggesting a “Giant picnic” in Totowa and joking about similar gatherings between the New York and Texas Rangers.

The Infamous Call’s Legacy

The call has since become one of the most talked-about moments in sports radio history. It remains a popular topic in the tri-state area, especially with the San Francisco Giants visiting New York to play against the Mets. The humorous nature of the call and Francesa’s witty responses have kept it alive in sports circles.

A Long-Awaited Meeting Comes to Life

In a video shared on social media platform X, Francesa is seen entering a room where notable figures from both teams are present. New York’s Eli Manning and Shaun O’Hara, along with San Francisco’s Logan Webb and Matt Chapman, are spotted at what is humorously dubbed the “Giants Giants Annual Meeting.” Francesa quips, “They really do get together!” before leaving the room. The MLB team later posted that they would host next year’s meeting.

Francesa’s History with Prank Calls

Mike Francesa has been no stranger to prank calls throughout his career. Other notable calls include questions about the Mets going undefeated for a season, Mickey Mantle winning the Triple Crown as if he were a horse, and suggestions to call up fictional characters from “Game of Thrones.” Despite retiring briefly in 2017, Francesa returned to radio before retiring again in 2019 to start a podcast.
