LSU Football Player J.T. Lindsey Arrested for Allegedly Sheltering Murder Suspects

LSU Freshman Running Back Faces Legal Troubles

LSU Tigers freshman running back J.T. Lindsey has found himself embroiled in a legal controversy after turning himself in to authorities. Lindsey is accused of harboring two men, Shemell Jacobs and Keldrick Jordan, who were wanted for armed robbery and second-degree murder charges in Louisiana. The Alexandria Police Department had been searching for the suspects, who were apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service on Monday at the LSU dorms.

Details of the Allegations

The accusations against Lindsey stem from an affidavit that claims Jacobs had access to Lindsey’s school ID and was able to use his PIN to enter the dormitory. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Lindsey and the suspects together as early as July 24. Despite these allegations, Lindsey’s lawyer, Kris Perret, maintains that his client was unaware of the suspects’ criminal status and has consistently professed his innocence.

Legal Proceedings and Defense

Lindsey was arrested on Friday on charges of accessory-after-the-fact to second-degree murder but was released the same day on a $5,000 bond. His lawyer emphasized that Lindsey did not know Jacobs and Jordan were wanted in connection with a murder case dating back to May 2025 in Alexandria, Louisiana. Perret stated that Lindsey is cooperating fully with authorities and had no intention of aiding or concealing the suspects.

LSU’s Response and Lindsey’s Future

LSU has acknowledged Lindsey’s arrest but refrained from commenting further out of respect for the ongoing legal process. Meanwhile, Lindsey has been suspended from the team pending further developments. Despite these challenges, he remains listed on LSU’s roster as of Sunday. Born in Alexandria, Lindsey was a highly regarded four-star prospect and one of two top running backs committed to LSU for the Class of 2025.
