Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan recently received a congratulatory message from Congress MP Shashi Tharoor following his first National Award win for Best Actor. Known for his eloquent language, Tharoor kept his message simple, tweeting, “A National Treasure wins a National Award! Congratulations @iamsrk!” In response, Khan humorously thanked Tharoor, stating he appreciated the simplicity of the message as he might not have understood something more “magniloquent and sesquipedalian.”
The 71st National Film Awards marked a significant milestone in Shah Rukh Khan’s illustrious 33-year career. On August 2, he was honored with the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in the 2023 blockbuster film “Jawan.” Directed by Atlee, the film features Khan in dual roles, portraying both a father and his lookalike son. The movie also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, with Deepika Padukone making a cameo appearance.
“Jawan” tells the story of Azad, a jailer at a women’s prison who becomes a vigilante. He recruits inmates to expose corruption in India, delivering a powerful narrative that resonated with audiences. The film’s success and critical acclaim contributed to Khan’s recognition at the National Film Awards.
Following his award win, Shah Rukh Khan expressed his gratitude through a video message on social media. With an arm in a sling due to an injury sustained on the set of his upcoming film “King,” Khan thanked the award jury, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, and everyone involved in his career. He emphasized that the award is not just an achievement but a reminder of his responsibility to continue creating impactful cinema.
Currently, Shah Rukh Khan is working on his next film, “King,” which features his daughter Suhana alongside Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan. Despite his injury, Khan remains committed to his craft and views the National Award as motivation to keep striving for excellence in the film industry.
